Monochrome Friday #0027 - Reflection
Taken at the Kalipayan Resorts and Hotel in Dasmariñas, Cavite during a swimming/drinking party with the members of SEO.ph from last Saturday. The reflection of the bridge on the pond caught my attention and quickly grabbed my camera & took a snap shot of it.

Monochrome Friday #0025 - Taal Lake
I felt lucky being so close to Tagaytay City, it is considered as the 2nd summer capital of the Philippines, Baguio City being the first. Having cold weather is not the only thing Tagaytay City boast of, it’s the captivating sceneries that kept me coming back. I can spend the whole day staring at Taal Lake and other wonders this beautiful city offers.

I just hope that the recent developments that are being undertaken in the area won’t alter the natural beauty of the place.

Monochrome Friday #0024 – Rizal Park
Today is the 148th birthday of José P. Rizal, Philippines’ National Hero & I found it appropriate to feature his monument on this blog.

The park was formerly known as “Luneta” which is synonimous to lunette, because of it’s half-moon shape, on this spot in December 30th 1896, Dr. José P. Rizal was executed by a firing squad for charges of rebellion.

His monument now rise in the middle of the park as a memorian for his patriotism.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

Monochrome Friday #0023 - Aguinaldo Shrine

On the balcony of this mansion in Kawit, Cavite, 111 years ago, the independence of the Republic of the Philippines from Spain was declared by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo. Gen. Aguinaldo then became the first president of the Republic.

I took this shot 2 years ago, honestly, it was my first time to be there considering it was so near from where I live. I guess I’m guilty of not giving much attention to our local heritage, but thanks to photography, I was able to visit and appreciate these monuments.

Have a free and happy weekend everyone.

Monochrome Friday #0022 - Die Cast Model
I started collecting die-cast models late 2007, my collection is now a little over 50 pcs. I’m a little bit choosy in my collection, my collection are mostly cars earlier than the ’70’s era with the exception of this and some ferraris. I’m so crazy about my collection, I started a blog about my die-cast cars collection.

For this shot, I used my DIY lightbox, using a plasctic container/box with 2 SB-800 flash gun triggered using the Nikon exclusive Creative Lighting System.

Have a nice weekend everyone!

Monochrome Friday #0021 - The Jesters
Yesterday was National Flag Day, to celebrate the 101st year of the Philippine Flag, the town of Imus in Cavite celebrated the Wagayway Festival. Wagayway is a Filipino word for wave. It was in a village called Alapan in Imus, Cavite where the Philippine Flag was displayed publicly in a battle between Filipino revolutionaries and Spanish Marines.

These 2 unicyclist were part of the Wagayway Festival grand parade that happened last Saturday, May 23rd in Imus, Cavite.

Have a festive and blessed weekend everyone!

Monochrome Friday #0020 - Guardian Angel
This week feature is a statue of an angel, I took this photo while covering Harvi & Moi’s wedding at the Espiritu Santo Parish in Tayuman St., Sta. Cruz, Manila. I was intrigued by it’s uniqueness, most angel statues that I’ve seen were in a praying position, this one is kinda different.

I’m wishing you a blessed weekend.

Monochrome Friday #0019 - Bugs Porn
I’ve been influence by a friend to try macro photography, as a starter, I bought a cheap manual extension tubes & attached it to my AF-Nikkor 50mm f1.8 and joined a group of macro enthusiasts in a photo shoot at the University of the Philippines – Diliman Campus. It was quite an experience, it was early morning & according to the masters, it’s better to shoot bugs during the morning.

I found these flies mating and shot several photos of them, it’s quite interesting how nature nature works. Hope you liked it.

Have a fun weekend everyone!
